This year the PortoBay Group ‘Tour to the City of Funchal – Move for Hope’ race, takes place on the 28th of December. Four hundred participants have registered, including hotel guests, customers, partners, and staff from the Portobay Group.
Since 2013, PortoBay Hotels & Resorts has taken part in the oldest Portuguese race, the Silvestre Race, which is organised by the Athletics Association of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The aim of this initiative is not only to promote a healthy lifestyle and fun, but bring together a team that, through its participation, contributes to the hotel group’s “HOPE by PortoBay” campaign.
For each participant, the PortoBay group donates 30€ to the campaign, which this year will equate to 12,000 euros.
Since 2012, this campaign has donated more than €534,000 to seven charities. In 2022, 67,000 euros were distributed by the following institutions located in Madeira, Algarve, Lisbon, and Porto, regions where PortoBay Hotels & Resorts are present: Madeira Cerebral Palsy Association, Portuguese League Against Cancer, Humanitarian Solidarity Association of Albufeira, CADIN (Centre for Support for Child Development), Community Life and Peace, Community of Sant’Egidio and Portuguese Association of Leukemias and Lymphomas.
