Yet more bad news for tourists as the mountain rescue team of the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters (BVM), undertook a complicated mission this afternoon to rescue two tourists who were “trapped” on a difficult to access escarpment in the Fajã dos Rodrigues area in São Vincente.
According to JM, the BVM team specializing in this type of operation left early this afternoon where they will attempt to retrieve the two tourists from a spot that is said to be almost impossible to reach.
The good news is that later this evening (20:29), news was released that the two German tourists were successfully rescued, having spent a night and a day trapped on a mountainside.
The rescue mission took several hours, and the Public Security Police are now dealing with the occurrence.
