Passers-by Avert Tragedy

A foreign citizen, suffering from psychological problems was rescued by a group of people walking along the Ribeiro Seco Bridge in Funchal late last night. They arrived just in time and managed to avert a tragedy.

According to an eyewitness, a 25-year-old foreign man was sitting on the bridge railings and a group of concerned citizens approached him and managed to talk him back to the safety of the pavement.  The emergency services were called to attend the scene, and a pre-hospital team from the Portuguese Red Cross (CVP), took charge of the situation and transported the man to hospital.
