Portuguese Air Force Rescue Mission

In the early hours of this morning, the Portuguese Navy and Air Force were called out on a rescue mission.

At 03:20, an SOS was received in connection with a 70-year-old crew member onboard a vessel sailing 452 km off the west coast of Porto Santo.

On arrival at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo, the man was met by an EMIR team, and quickly transported to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.

The search and rescue team included Portuguese Air Force personnel, the Portuguese Navy, an EMIR medical team, and Sapadores de Santa Cruz firefighters.
