The severely decomposed body of a man was found in Praia dos Pescadores yesterday.
Due to its state, and location, firefighters from Espinho had to use specialised aquatic equipment to remove the corpse. Unwilling to commit themselves further, the authorities have confirmed that they believe this to be the body of a young student from Ponto do Sol, who went missing almost two weeks ago. The young man is said to have been studying on the mainland.
Once the body was retrieved, it was immediately transported to the Legal and Forensic Medicine department. An autopsy will be carried out later.
The Maritime Police and PSP were investigating the incident.
