The Municipality of Funchal (CMF), will open its new Animal Welfare Unit located in Rua da Alegria this week.
Pedro Calado, the Mayor of Funchal, accompanied by Councilwoman for the Environment, Nádia Coelho will attend the centre’s inauguration at 15:00, on Thursday, the 6th of October.
In a press statement, the CMF stressed that…
“With the opening of the new Animal Welfare Unit, the municipality of Funchal fulfills one of its main objectives, within the framework and strategy of animal welfare.”
The Mayor further explained that this space will offer “a personalised service so that its technicians can provide easy to understand information with regard to pet care including, pre-adoption advice, basic care, animal population control (municipal campaigns), the importance of microchipping, vaccinations, and other pet related issues.”
During the inauguration, a presentation of the new animal welfare website will take place, as part of an initiative to highlight the centre’s role within the pet care community.
