Earlier on today a man fell 10 metres near the Anjos waterfall, in Ponta do Sol.
According to a source from the Mixed Firefighters of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol, at the time they were unable to ascertain if the man was a local or tourist, however, they were able to confirm that the victim was conscious and had no obvious fractures. He was immediately transported to the Dr. Nelio Mendonca hospital.
Only last week the Mayor of Ponta do Sol, Célia Pessegueiro warned about the dangers lurking in the area, especially as it is a very popular tourist attraction and prone to landslides. She also stated that people acted in a ‘careless’ manner around the falls, which only exacerbates the problem.
