The blood reserve in the region has stabilised again, after a decline during the pandemic and, currently, “there are about 3,000 regular blood donors who guarantee about 6,000 donations per year.”
This data, among others, was discussed at a meeting with the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection, Pedro Ramos, had today with the Association of Blood Donors of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ADSRAM), represented by President José Marques (nurse ), and Mário Nóbrega, a member of ADSRAM.
At this meeting, the members of the Association made known the activities that are being developed within the scope of promoting blood donation and healthy lifestyles, as they did earlier in the month with the Mayor of Funchal, Pedro Calado, when a walk, between the Casino and Praça do Município, brought together more than a hundred participants.
This year, for the first time, the Regional Health Service has been able to support the mainland, as 125 units of blood were sent to the Portuguese Blood Institute.
