Late this evening, local newspaper, JM, confirmed that a rescue mission is currently underway at the Caldeirão Verde levada, in Santana.
The woman, who was with a group of tourists, fell several metres and at the time of the report, no further information had been released as to her injuries and the severity.
The rescue team currently comprises of officers from the Volunteer Firefighters of Santana, and the Forestry Police.
