The Liberal Madeira Initiative promises to “insist until they are blue in the face” the problems related to the lack of security in the city centre of Funchal are tackled.
Issuing a statement to local newspapers, a spokesperson for the political party said:
“The proliferation of acts of vandalism in a locality is usually a toxic sign in terms of municipal management. The causes can be several, from delinquency, drug addiction, to the opening hours of night establishments, fostered by the existence of abandoned and unattended spaces. Furthermore, neglect and the absence of a rational security policy means that the situation becomes ever so slightly worse, day by day.”
In order to rectify the situation, the IL insist on the necessity of bringing together the police, judicial agents, Chamber, Government and other entities so that a coherent strategy can be formed and implemented.
