This afternoon, at around 3:00 pm, the body of a man was found on the coastline below the Pináculo viewpoint in São Gonçalo. Once located, rescue teams started the difficult process of removing the body from the sea.
The search, also involved members of the BVM – Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters and a canine team.
The identity of the man is currently unknown, but there are strong indications that it could be the man who was last seen at the viewpoint on Monday.
According to JM, this case has nothing to do with another search which started this morning in the same area. Luckily, the individual in question was found hours later in the centre of Funchal. He had however, undergone a psychiatric assessment and appeared physically well.
