Today the Ribeira Brava City Council announced that all bathing at Calhau da Lapa, located in Campanário, is prohibited due to the instability of the east cliff face.
According to the municipality, the issue was “detected by the rockers of the Regional Government, as part of an action to prevent and mitigate the risk of landslides in the area.” Due to the instability of the surrounding cliff face, the council has deemed it prudent to prohibit any bathing in the area until a further geological evaluation has been obtained.
Although, reading the comments section this may not be the only reason……
