Six new firefighters were sworn in at the Mixed Firefighters of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol (BMRBPS) this evening.
While talking to reporters, the Fire section commander, Sidónio Pio, confirmed that having gone through basic training, all the new recruits were fully trained, and that more firefighters are needed in both the professional and volunteer reserve.
He went on to warn the Regional Government that they need to continue to invest in the emergency services, namely the fire brigade, while reaching out to volunteers and asking them to take the next step and become professional firefighters.
