A working group visited Santa Cruz last week to analyse potential installation points for the new and desperately needed radar equipment. The process is said to be gaining momentum as contacts have already been made with suppliers and the tender will be launched by June.
The aim is to increase the accuracy of wind levels and direction at the airport to avoid an increasing number of diversions and cancelled flights.
