Covid-19: 50% in Intensive Care Are Unvaccinated

During his press conference last night, Pedro Ramon, the Secretary for Health and Civil Protection, stated that 50% of those currently hospitalised in intensive care are unvaccinated, and that in the last week the number of deaths has been divided between those who are vaccinated but suffering underlying health problems, and those who are unvaccinated.

He went on to say: –

“Our unvaccinated ones are dying, and unfortunately the vaccinated ones who are dying are those who have comorbidities, and therefore vulnerable. Furthermore, a person who is 91-years old, who suffers ill health and dies from the SARS-CoV-2 virus is not to blame, it means that the barriers we erected to protect them have broken down.  All of this was avoidable. The problem is’ he added “As soon as the restrictions were lifted, people forgot to protect themselves and others, and this is what we have to avoid in the future.”

He further appealed for everyone to be vaccinated, as it is the only way to combat the virus, and return to some semblance of normal life.
