Lost Citizen Found in Mountains

According to a Civil Protection source a lost Portuguese citizen has been found uninjured.

This afternoon, the Forestry Police located and rescued a Portuguese tourist who was lost in the Encumeada area, in Ribeira Brava. Luckily the tourist was able to contact the authorities and advise them of their predicament.  The Regional Civil Protection Service, in conjunction with the Regional Relief Operations Command (CROS), alerted the Forestry Police, who were able to quickly locate the individual.

After making sure that the individual was unharmed, they escorted him back to the road and then transported him back to his place of residence.

A further rescue took place this afternoon, when a team of Vigilantes da Natureza, who were patrolling the protected area of Ponta de São Lourenço, were able to provide first aid to a tourist who had fallen.

As a result of the fall, the Municipal Fire Department of Machico were called out to help assist in treating the woman’s injuries.
