Madeira Wants to Attract Swiss Investors

A recent event, promoted by Invest Madeira, and held at the Next Hotel, Funchal, was attended by 21 Swiss Investors, the Regional Secretary for the Economy, Rui Barreto, the director of Invest Madeira, Filipa Ferreira, the President of the Swiss-Portugal Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCISSP), Marina Prévost-Mürier, of SDM, represented by Rafael Gomes de Oliveira and of TPMC, represented by Tânia Castro.

The aim of the Swiss visit was to showcase Madeira and its investment potential, as well as to prepare the Region’s participation in the Portugal – Switzerland Real Estate, Investment and Tourism Exhibition, which will take place in January 2022 at the MESSE Basel Congress Centre in Basel.

It should be noted that in June, the Regional Secretary for the Economy signed a cooperation protocol with the Swiss-Portugal Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, with a view to the internationalisation of the Autonomous Region of Madeira’s economy with Swiss markets, in a new political and economic partnership.  Through this, the Regional Government (RG) intends to encourage the export of regional products and services, creating both trade and investment opportunities.  Furthermore, Rui Barreto, believes that island insularity should not be viewed as a threat, but as the potential for creating new trade opportunities and diversifying the island’s economy.

Invest Madeira is a RG initiative, set up under the guidance of the Regional Secretary for the Economy. Its main mission is to provide an environment that facilitates contacts with regional businesses, promoting bilateral business opportunities between the regional business fabric and foreign markets, in areas such as investment, Real Estate, Tourism, the International Business Centre of Madeira, Health, Innovation, among others things.
