Searches for the missing French tourist have been extended, as it is possible that the 35-year-old man was seen in Ponta Delgada last Wednesday.
So far rescue teams have searched along Levada do Caldeirão Verde, areas of Fajã do Penedo, Vale da Lapa, Caldeirão Verde, Caldeirão do Inferno and Fajã da Nogueira, with operations still extending to Pico Ruivo, Pico Canário and Ribeira Funda.
Unfortunately, the search has caused a few problems within the different emergency services departments, as the police did not inform the civil protection services of the occurrence during the initial phase of the investigation, as per protocol, while firefighter support was only requested 24 hours after the French Embassy had raised the alarm.
