Masks and Curfew Will Remain in Place

Pedro Ramos, the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection, has confirmed that the Regional Government will not be relaxing the mandatory mask wearing and curfews regulations for the foreseeable future.

This he said, was due to the problems that had arisen in other countries who had been too quick to relax health and safety measures, such as mask wearing, and then had to reverse their decision due to the sudden increase in cases. We, he said, want to make informed decisions, rather than simply taking the easy route, and this means being unpopular sometimes.

When questioned about the ‘vaccination slowdown,’ he was quick to assure people that it was not due to a lack of vaccines, but the fact that both health professionals and the public are still on holiday.
