A French tourist fell from a considerable height while walking along Levada do Risco, in Rabaçal, this morning, and is said to be in a critical condition. Equally serious, the tourist in question had deviated from the recommended walking route while following a guide from a different group!
The location of the incident is known to be dangerous, and according to a spokesperson for the Calheta Volunteer Fire Brigade, the incident occurred in a ‘hard to reach’ area.
As of late morning, search and rescue teams were still trying to reach the individual.
