Tourist Waits an Hour In Ambulance

A foreign citizen spent an hour inside a Portuguese Red Cross (CVP) ambulance before being seen by Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, A & E triage nurses. Responding to statement, a hospital source contacted local newspaper, JM, confirming that all additional tourist emergency pandemic protocols were observed.

The 51-year-old woman was rescued and transported to hospital after falling in a Funchal bar yesterday evening (27.07). Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim had to be screened, as she was a tourist.

However, after the woman, who was accompanied by her partner, was observed by the advanced screening triage nursing team, she was ordered her to remain inside the ambulance, which was parked outside the hospital entrance. The wait lasted for an hour and forty minutes.
