We Are Concerned About the Delta Variant

This morning the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection, Pedro Ramos, confirmed that the Delta coronavirus variant already represents 20% of the samples sent by the Autonomous Region of Madeira to the Ricardo Jorge Institute.

While talking to reporters he said that it is essential that everyone complies with social distancing rules and mask wearing as well as agreeing to be vaccinated and adhere to the bimonthly rapid antigen testing rules.

In any case, he said, the region is increasingly protected, thanks to all the work carried out by the regional authorities, and after 19 months, we are winning this war.  Our daily figures are low, people are more conscious and aware of the situation, and most of us are living as normal a life as possible.

Concluding he said, when you are asked if you would like to be vaccinated, say yes, and continue to take the free rapid antigen tests every fifteen days.

All very nice, except when you haven’t been called forward for your vaccine.  Apparently, I am on a list somewhere!
