Miguel Albuquerque believes that at the height of summer, Porto Santo will receive around 40,000 tourists simultaneously, and guarantees that regional authorities are geared up to receive this influx of people.
He went on to say that the number of Regional Civil Protection Service- Pre-hospital Emergency Unit (EMIR) teams have been increased, all entrances to the island are fully controlled (air and sea),and that all pandemic health and safety measures are in place. A testament to the island’s effectiveness is that there are no local cases, although two Covid positive tourists were identified and quarantined this week.
From the 21st of June, all those wishing to enter or leave Porto Santo must undergo a rapid antigen test, but the President of Madeira stressed, that self kit test results will not be accepted.
