The Forestry Police Corps were called out today after the Regional Civil Protection Service received a call saying that a couple of tourists had got lost after leaving the marked route on Levada das 25 Fontes (PR 6).
The couple were found in the Pico Fernandes area, and although unharmed, were worried about the situation the had found themselves in.
In response to the incidence, the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation recommends that walkers stick to the recommended routes, follow the signs, and do not leave the levada pathways.
