Today, the 19th of May, Miguel Albuquerque accompanied by Humberto Vasconcelos visited Companhia Nova de Aguardente, in Ribeira Brava. The company which was founded in 2015, is the manufacturer of ‘Canning’s Gin’ which received a Gold Medal in the 2018 International Wine and Spirit Competition.
The gin is described as having exotic tones of passion fruit and cherry, accompanied by an infusion of various aromatic herbs, with notes of pepper and mint, producing a fine well balanced flavour that sits nicely on the tongue.
The company has the capacity to produce 10,000 bottles per month and aims, in the next few years, to double its production, although this will depend on regional and international market demand, and currently exports to Austria, Luxembourg, China and Japan
A bottle of Canning’s Gin retails for around €29.99, and can be purchased in selected Continente stores and Garcias Cash Madeira (Funchal).
