CMF Promotes Free Cat and Dog Vaccination

The Funchal City Council announced today that from Saturday, the 10th of April the CMF will be starting its 7th rabies vaccination programme for all cats and dogs over the age of three months.

In a press note, the Mayor of Funchal, Miguel Silva Gouveia explained that, “due to the ongoing health crisis, the campaign will be carried out with strong security measures, but the municipality could not fail to continue its valuable work.”

The first six campaigns, which in addition to vaccination, included microchipping, registration with SIAC, internal deworming (against worms and tapeworms) and the respective parish licensing (where applicable), covered all parishes in the municipality and allowed for a total of 3170 domestic animals to be vaccinated to date.

This year’s campaign starts on the 10th with the parishes of: –

Imaculado Coração de Maria from 9 am to 12 pm.

São Pedro from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Registration is essential and limited to 40 dogs and 20 cats.

There will be an interval between both species in order to minimise any distress, and please note that all health and safety restrictions must be adhered to.

Further details can be obtained from the CMF website or your local parish office.
