In a statement, Santa Cruz City Council warns citizens about a scam that they have recently been alerted to.
The City Council went on to say: “The scam targets the elderly. The scammers phone to advise the person they are talking to that they need to attend a medical screening session. Once contacted, they are told to go to a hotel in the municipality where they will undergo a free health check-up. Once the screening is over, the alleged doctor, taking advantage of his ‘victims’ education and understanding gets them to sign a contract for the sale of a mattress. Once signed, the contract is valid.”
The Municipality of Santa Cruz thus requests that all citizens remain attentive and that they respond only to screenings duly practiced by the health authorities.
