The President of the Regional Government said today that the containment measures currently in force in Madeira are “adequate” for the Easter period.
While talking to journalists, he said: “Right now we have the appropriate measures in place for the Easter period. We are not in confinement, we have the pandemic in containment. We are continuing to monitor the situation and depending on the evolution of the pandemic, we will make any necessary changes to the current restrictions in place, but in principle there will be no major changes.”
He went on to say that municipality travel during the Easter period will not be affected provided the pandemic situation remains under control. When asked about Porto Santo he said: “Porto Santo is very susceptible to small outbreaks, and this is why we have to maintain control, to safeguard the population and the economy.”
