The Ordem dos Farmacêuticos has confirmed that last weekend that staff from 50 Madeiran pharmacies received their first vaccination against Covid-19.
“The COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Commission assigned a first contingent of 90 doses of the vaccine for administration to the teams of community pharmacies”, explains the Ordem dos Farmacêuticos.
According to the note, a total of 50 pharmacies (38 pharmacists and 52 pharmacy technicians) have been vaccinated, which roughly equates to 78% of Madeira’s pharmacies. Pharmacy staff working at the Porto Santo pharmacy are scheduled to be vaccinated next week.
In a statement, the President of the Regional Delegation of Madeira of the Ordem dos Farmacêuticos, Tiago Magro, said “we have tried to cover as many pharmacies as possible, so that they have at least one of their employees vaccinated.”
In the meantime, the president of the organisation, Ana Paula Martins, considers that the “Regional Government of Madeira is setting an example of organisation, speed and efficiency in the identification and provision of vaccines to priority groups, namely health professionals. It is an example and it is also a way of showing respect and consideration for those who are working with the general population everyday so that no one is denied medicine or help.”
The Ordem dos Farmacêuticos has already completed, at a national level, the census of almost 8,000 pharmacists who wish to join the first phase of the Vaccination Plan against Covid-19.
