According to a statement from DECO, everyone who agrees with their automatic IRS refund proposal will receive their money much sooner than in previous years. This covers taxpayers covered by the automatic IRS system and who are not required to submit an IRS declaration.
DECO consider that this solution will be welcomed by the elderly as they are seen as a vulnerable group at risk from the virus, and who may experience difficulties in filling in forms by themselves.
DECO also believes that the automatic IRS may also be the quickest way to receive possible IRS refunds. The association stressed that “Historically, the State has secured reimbursements within two weeks of accepting the tax authorities’ proposal. More than ever, we consider it essential that the State continues to assume this commitment, which is probably of major importance to the health of family budgets during the present pandemic.”
