Victor Prior, the director of the Madeira Delegation of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), expects Madeira to be hit by tropical storm Theta from Friday afternoon onwards.
In his statement, Victor Prior believes that the storm will significantly affect the island on Saturday where it is expected to rain for ‘almost 24 hours.’ Winds are expected to reach 100 km an hour in coastal regions, and between 120 -130 km an hour in mountainous areas.
The good news is that things should become brighter from midday on Sunday.
