Bread for God

In a move to create a little joy in these pandemic times, Monte parish council will distribute ‘Bread for God’ food packages to 400 children.

Local councillor, Idalina Silva told Madeiran newspaper, JM, that the local authority has decided to go ahead with the idea, as a way of mitigating some of the effects the pandemic has had on families, and society as a whole. Therefore, the aim of the initiative is to create a little festive cheer for all pre-school and elementary school children in the parish of Monte, whose goodie bags will include chestnuts, walnuts and other delicacies, as well as a face mask.
