The Regional Government is meeting with hotel groups to find another unit that will become a second Covid hotel.
While talking to reporters during an visit to Ponta do Pargo, the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque reiterated his concern over the growing numbers of cases in Madeira, especially those linked to local transmissions.
Again he reiterated that masks should be worn in all public spaces, and that it will become mandatory in Portugal from tomorrow, with fines of up to €500 for anyone caught without wearing one. A decision which Madeira adopted several months ago, and a move that the vast majority of residents are complying with.
The President also mentioned that sick tourists will start to bear part of their stay in the hotel.
