As of 7 pm this evening 4,000 people had signed the petition against the use of mandatory face masks in all public spaces, which is due to come into force this Saturday, the 1st of August, with politicians from all parties adding their weight to the feud.
The basis for the petition, is that many believe that there is no scientific evidence to support the mandatory use of masks in outside spaces, and therefore ask the government to overturn their new ruling, as the wearing of masks is seen as detrimental to health and tourism. Already companies are receiving cancellation notices from clients who refuse to undertake activities while wearing a mask.
Half an hour ago, the health authorities confirmed that another new case of Covid-19 has been reported. This is an imported case from Switzerland.
