Wood Pigeons Cause Havoc

From today, applications can be made to the government for support from PRODERAM 2020 for the installation of crop protection systems against protected animal species, namely the Wood Pigeon (Columba trocaz), in order to prevent or minimise crop destruction and loss of income for farmers. This is especially important for farmers working on the north of the island.

For this purpose, support will be given for the acquisition and installation of both reflective holographic tape and gas powered bird scare alarms; the latter is mounted on a tripod and activated through a regulator and timer.

Interested farmers can apply for this support, and must submit their application to the Management Authority of PROPEDRAM 2020, Rua do Aljube, no. 49, in Funchal, by 16:30 on the 31st of July.
