Yesterday was not an easy day for the EasyJet passengers who boarded a Porto flight bound for Funchal, which was supposed to depart at midday, as they were left sitting on the aircraft for an hour and a half.
Successive cancellations and flight delays at Madeira Airport exhausted the patience of many passengers, many of whom had been waiting for hours for their return flight home.
It's been another difficult day at the airport as by 1 pm this afternoon, eleven flights had been cancelled and fourteen aircraft diverted due to strong winds.
There was chaos this morning as 15 flights were diverted due to bad weather.
Since March this year, the 'WE, Citizens Party!' have been questioning the Regional Government, and in particular the President of the Government, Miguel Albuquerque and the Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, about the creation, existence and application of a “Contingency Plan” for the island's airport when strong winds impact on its operational effectiveness.
