Brightening the Mood

In a press release, LuxStar who are in charge of putting up this year's Christmas lights, have said that work is progressing well, and that they have already started their pre-Christmas testing in certain areas.

Schools Will Remain Open

When questioned by reporters if Madeira's schools would close early for the Christmas holidays, the President, Miguel Albuquerque said that it would be “counterproductive” since Madeira's schools are “scrupulously complying” with the measures issued by the Regional Director of Health. 

Fraudulent Covid-19 Messages

The Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection (SRSPC) has confirmed that a spate of bogus Covid-19 messages have been received by people living in Madeira.  The message reads "Your COVID-19 test was positive. Follow the isolation guidelines and wait for contact from the health team (COD VER 1K3337C1)."

Song for SPEA

Until the 25th of December, all profits from the sale of the Moritz Quartet's track "Dança da Toutinegra" (Dance of the Warbler) will be donated to the Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA), which forms part of  Madeira's environmental education programme, which every year offers free lectures, workshops and field trips to the regions schools. 

Launch of Incentive Package

This afternoon the Economic Council, chaired by the ex-leader of ACIF (Chamber of Commerce) and entrepreneur, Cristina Pedra, presented their new programme entitled 'Incentives for the Economy of the Region' which they say will speed up the release of funds and reduce bureaucracy.
