A 29-year-old Portuguese tourist was rescued this afternoon (06.09) at Cais do Sardinha, by the Funchal Maritime Search and Rescue team in conjunction with the Regional Civil Protection Service.
The victim, who fell while walking along the Ponta de São Lourenço footpath, suffered a severe foot injury and required medical assistance.
According to the Captain of the Port of Funchal, the 29-year-old was rescued at 4:42 pm, where he was quickly transported by sea from Cais do Sardinha to Quinta do Lorde marina. On his arrival at the marina he was immediately taken by ambulance to the Machico Medical Centre for treatment.
