Madeira’s world-famous New Year’s Eve fireworks display will feature a total of 59 launch stations this year, according to a resolution approved by the Regional Government.
The plan, detailing the locations of the fireworks launch points across Madeira and Porto Santo, was published on Tuesday in the Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (JORAM).
In Funchal, the city’s natural amphitheatre will host 27 launch stations, with a further 25 positioned along the seafront between the Port of Funchal and the Almirante Reis area. Five additional fireworks platforms will be placed at sea, creating the spectacular panoramic display for which Madeira has become internationally known.
On Porto Santo, fireworks will be launched from stations at the Portela Viewpoint and the city pier.
The Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP) highlighted the importance of the New Year celebrations, describing the event as one of Madeira’s biggest tourism showcases, with national and international impact that should continue to be developed and strengthened.
The New Year fireworks display remains one of Madeira’s most iconic annual events, attracting thousands of residents and visitors who gather around Funchal Bay to welcome the New Year.
