Drug Trafficking Suspicions in Calheta

The Judiciary Police carried out, this morning, an inspection operation on a recreational boat docked at the Calheta marina.

At issue was the Spanish-flagged yacht ‘Bluemoona,’ which departed from the island of Saint-Martin, in the Caribbean, on the 14th of May, having arrived in Madeira today, at 07:00.

Contacted by DIÁRIO, the director of the Judiciary Police of Madeira, José Matos, confirmed that the operation was carried out, explaining that it took place following a complaint that pointed to suspicions of drug trafficking.

Without giving further details about the investigation or the content of the complaint, José Matos only assured that, after the steps taken, “nothing was confirmed.”
