Orange Rain Alert

Madeira is experiencing a mass of hot and humid air, transported by the circulation of a depression located to the west of the archipelago, which has already begun to affect the region.

According to Ricardo Tavares, the IPMA delegate in Madeira, this situation caused the formation of low clouds, reduced visibility, and the occurrence of light precipitation. The atmospheric conditions are expected to worsen over the next couple of days.

An orange alert has been issued for Thursday,  due to persistent and heavy rain, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms throughout the day.

Regarding the airport, Ricardo Tavares admits that there may be possible constraints over the next couple of days due to a combination of heavy precipitation, low clouds, and reduced visibility that may affect operations tomorrow, while the increase in wind, from the 8th, may also cause occasional disturbances.
