The body of a woman, approximately 40 years old, was detected this afternoon, floating in the sea south of the Desertas Islands.
At 13:24, a fishing vessel sailing in the area reported spotting a body floating in the water. Following the call, the Funchal Lifeguard Station quickly mobilised, along with members of the Local Command of the Funchal Maritime Police. The Judiciary Police also joined the operation.
After the body was retrieved, it was sent to the Medical-Legal and Forensic Office of Madeira for an autopsy to determine the causes of death.
The Local Command of the Maritime Police in Funchal handled the incident, and the competent authorities are monitoring the case.
