The president of the Regional Government confirmed today that the New Year’s Eve firework show will go ahead as scheduled.
At a press conference, Miguel Albuquerque said that the Regional Government considered postponing the pyrotechnic show, given the first forecasts of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere, but the latest indications point to the orange warning being issued only from 03:00 am, which means that the show can take place at its usual time.
The executive considered bringing it forward to 20:00 tomorrow, because in the initial forecast, it was predicted that the orange warning would be issued at midnight tomorrow (31st of December).
At the press conference, Albuquerque said that the Regional Government is monitoring the situation and there may be updates tomorrow.
“If there is any change, at lunchtime (tomorrow) we will issue a press statement,” he said.
During the confernece that all the fire launch pads remain the same, and that 12 cruise liners and 1 sailboat will be in the harbour for the end of year celelbrations.
