Two tremors were felt in the Madeira-Tore zone, a bifurcation that connects the mainland, Madeira, and the Azores. This is an area of high seismicity activity, and both earthquakes were recorded by seismographs at the Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA).
According to the IPMA, a 3.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 03:21 yesterday (Wednesday), and a smaller earthquake on Tuesday at 10:11 of 2.9.
The quakes had respective depths of 22 km and 31 km.
