The signage and tapes prohibiting access to the sea did not impede bathers who decided to ‘go bathing’ this morning at Praia Formosa, in Funchal.
Although the Captaincy of the Port of Funchal had cancelled strong sea agitation warnings, the beach remained taped off for safety reasons. There were also signs saying that there were no lifeguards and that it was dangerous to enter the water or the surrounding area.
The good weather returned after a week of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Today, the warmer temperatures gave bathers a temptation too good to miss, even if they were in danger of drowning or being swept away by strong currents.
