Prostheses Campaign

Diamantino Pereira Junior, who lost both legs in a motorcycle accident on the 27th of August in Santa Cruz, has launched a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe. In less than 24 hours, the initiative has already raised more than 18,500 euros, the result of over 800 donations.

In the description of the page, the motorcyclist calls for help in obtaining the prostheses and adapted support he will need for his new life.

On this GoFundMe page, he wrote: “Hello, my name is Diamantino. With this campaign, you could help me achieve a lot of things I will need in my life, including prostheses and adapted living necessities.”

Diamantino adds that he believes that he will be able to reach the various stages of recovery, but admitted that being supported by a caring community was making the whole process easier.

The campaign comes a few days after Diamantino Pereira Junior shared a motivational video on social networks, in which he gave an account of his “new reality.” The testimony went viral, generating a wave of solidarity, which is now materialising into much-needed financial support.
