Albuquerque: I Think We Should Build Golf Course No. 5

The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, revealed this Tuesday, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the sculpture of Ricardo Velosa at the Santo da Serra Golf Course, that the strategy is to increase the offer of the sport in the archipelago, with the creation of a fifth course on the island of Madeira.

Currently, the Region has three infrastructures: the Santo da Serra Golf Course, the Palheiro Golf, and the Porto Santo Golf Course. The governor recalled that the Ponta do Pargo Golf Course will be completed in 2026 and added that, by the end of this year, the tender for the operation and the hotel and real estate component associated with the project will be launched.

Asked about the possibility of the island of Madeira having the capacity for a fourth golf course, the head of the Executive said, without wanting to give further details, that this could be in the plans. “The idea is to have a fourth golf course on the island of Madeira and one in Porto Santo,” said Albuquerque.

Yep, this is exactly what we need when house and rental prices are sky high and only the rich can afford their own homes.  We need infrastructure that supports Madeirans, allows them to grow, and provides activities and a life that they can afford.
