Two earthquakes occurred during the early hours of Monday off the archipelago of Madeira, according to the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA).
The first, a 1.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 04:34 northwest of Porto Moniz. The second, slightly larger 2.3 earthquake, was reported at 05:44 off the east coast of Porto Santo.
