An Englishwoman aged 57 years old, was the fatal victim yesterday’s fall at the Rochete Bridge on Caldeirão Verde.
According to the Santana Volunteer Firefighters commander, the tourist was hiking with her husband when she fell from a height of between five and 10 meters from the bridge.
Firefighters rescued the woman, from the riverbed, and waited for authorisation to transport the body to Casa da Queimada, where she was confirmed dead.
Asked about the danger of the route, Paulo Leme said that there are always dangers, which are sometimes revealed when someone takes a photograph or when people need to move away to give way to other hikers and run the risk of slipping.
Our condolences to her family.
