‘isUP-AgrO: Unlocking the Potential for Agricultural research on an EU Outmost region: boosting ISOPlexis Centre’, coordinated by the University of Madeira, was recently approved by the European Union, under the Horizon Europe Programme, and will receive more than 1.4 million euros in funding.
The objective is to improve the research activity of ISOPlexis – Centre for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Technology, in order to create a centre of excellence for research in the agriculture and agri-food sector.
To achieve this goal, networking, training and research activities will be implemented between the partners in the consortium from July 2025 until 2028.
In addition to the University of Madeira, isUP-AgrO project will involve the Universita Degli Studi Di Parma (UNIPR), from Italy, and the Agencia Estatal Consejo Superior De Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), from Spain.
The company SATURTECH also participates in the consortium, which will carry out consultancy aimed at improving the capacity of the consortium leader in the management and creation of consortia competitive to European programs.
With this project, the ISOPlexis Centre will provide training to young scientists and develop research and R&D management skills, namely in the area of intelligent monitoring of agrosystems and field phenotyping and high intensity of genetic resources.
The project will involve knowledge exchange activities between partners through a strategy comprising joint research, exchange of experts, education and training, 5 joint summer schools, workshops, holding of an international symposium, as well as participation in conferences, dissemination activities and joint preparation of application for the continuation of the consortium.
The objectives and activities are aligned with EREI – Regional Strategy for Smart Specialisation and with the activities of the priority domain of Agriculture, Food and Bioeconomy. And, it has the collaboration and support of several entities and regional partners, with the support of the EREI Implementation Unit and the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Environment.
